What is the Gantt module?

The Eurotronic Gantt module is a graphical module for EAM/CMMS systems that enables the use of planning and control methods for projects using Gantt charts.

  • Gantt charts are used to plan multi-party activities, both team and group. They present a chain of sequential events, including tasks performed in parallel. The graphical representation of the project significantly affects the effectiveness of planning, controlling and revising activities.
  • The main objective of the module is to support the work of the project manager by highlighting the relationship between tasks and the impact of potential changes on the entire project. Eurotronic Gantt also allows to run simulations to determine proposed changes to specifications, resource availability and deadlines. The Gantt chart also plays a key role in optimizing the first “realistic” version of the project plan.
  • Eurotronic Gantt is a browser-based application. Unlike desktop applications, it allows you to access the created visualizations from any computer connected to the Internet and work remotely. Project teams can report working time, delays, changes in tasks without the need to constantly replace the current version of the project file.

Main Features:

  • Reporting – a report generation tool is built into the Gantt module and allows users to create reports based on selected columns and data. It is also possible to customize external reports (outside of Gantt) that will use the data provided by the Gantt module
  • Configuration of data presentation – within the configuration tool, users can define the scope of data presented by the Gantt module
  • Personalization of data presentation – the module allows users to choose which data they want to see and in what order
  • Interactivity of calculations – the system reacts to the user’s interaction with the Gantt chart or data table by running a calculation that allows to maintain the correctness and stability of the entered data, also detecting prohibited or questioned events
  • Diagrams – the system has built-in support for resource utilization diagrams based on set limits and earned value diagrams (EVM)
  • Base Projects – The base project allows users to compare the current state of the project with the original design (the base project). This is crucial for the earned value analysis methodology.
  • Critical Path – identifying the critical path of a project helps project managers decide how to allocate available resources and informs them of possible future delays.
Additional functions performed by the system:
  • Presentation of multiple projects at the same time
  • Definition of resources, limits and expectations
  • Built-in project analytics, including ACWP, BCWS, BCWP, Free Slack, and Total Slack
  • Prevent data loss if the connection is lost
  • Adding/removing tasks/subtasks and their dependencies
  • Undo/redo action
  • Gantt chart scaling
  • Ability to add and utilize user-defined fields
  • Change colors of tasks
  • Edit task labels chart view
  • Editing task data from Gantt chart
  • Defining calendars with working days and non-working days

How it fits with our EAM/CMMS

The Gantt module is a stand-alone solution that in its basic form is configured to work with systems such as Eurotronic ZMT or HxGN EAM. However, this does not exclude the possibility of cooperation with another system. The standard version works with modules and workflows responsible for managing work orders and operations within these orders.

Technology

The browser application is based on Ext js and asp.net framework 4.8  technologies and works with browsers such as Chrome, Edge. On the data management side, it uses the MS Server 2016 environment or higher.
